Tangier Wood – Off Grid Woodland Management, Blacksmithing, Deer Skinning – Kent – April 2024

Since buying Tangier Wood in 2016, we (Jodie and Jordan) have been working to regenerate this 10acre semi-ancient woodland. As a DofE Gold Participant, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the re-growth and health of its native tree species and natural habitats.

You’ll have a fully immersive, off-grid experience – empowered and given freedom of action to build the confidence and capabilities to sustain yourself and the woodland resources.

On day 1, you’ll learn how to make tools in our woodland blacksmithing forge, and skin a deer with our licensed game keeper.

Days 2-3, you’ll learn about woodland sustainability and biodiversity, and undertake different methods of sustainable woodland management. Plus have a crack at axe-throwing and archery.

Days 4-5, you’ll work your own patch of woodland in line with the goals you set for yourself and your team.

Jordan will also share 22yrs military experience to teach you tracking and natural navigation (sun, moon, stars, trees, wind).

You’ll achieve your John Muir Discovery Award as part of your DofE experience.

You’ll be camping for the 5 days, cooking all your meals over the open fire. Environmentally friendly composting toilets and solar showers on site.
