Exotic Reptile & Amphibian Residentials & AHEMS
For Gold DofE participants with an interest in animals and those who may wish to apply for veterinary and zoology degrees at university.
Our programme is now approved for University AHEMS placements for veterinary students too!
Placements are inclusive of accredited and expert-led training in exotic species animal management, stunning forest lodge accommodation, food & drink as well as a social & activities plan. The programme takes place in the New Forest, UK.
The Reptile Academy is an exotic species training provider that attends the London Vet Show and our accredited courses have high uptake by veterinary professionals working for Medivet, Vets4Pets and many individually run practices. Students enrolling on our placements will get free access to our accredited online course following the placement if they choose as a limited offer.
There are 8 weeks available in 2023 and as expected spaces fill up quickly. One-week and two-week placements are available.

Since launching these programmes as an AAP for DofE, our Reptile Ranger Residential has become accepted by major veterinary universities as a provider of animal husbandry extra mural studies (AHEMS) or pre-clinical EMS – so perfect for all students seeking animal husbandry experience as part of their UCAS applications.
Aside from Gold DofE participants, we now have students from Royal Veterinary College, Bristol, Nottingham, Aberystwyth, Stirling, Keele, Cambridge and more.
This animal based residential offers high level practical content, animal handling and training, and we ensure all participants have a very comfy and well-nourished stay with us too!
