Volunteering with Leonard Cheshire Disability – South Wales

Action for Disability (South Wales)

From now until May 2016 we need teams of about 5 people, aged between 14 and 24, to work together on community awareness raising events about the barriers disabled people face. The events will be within the Newport-Cardiff-Swansea area. Each event will take about 10 hours of preparation and planning, and 5 hours for the event itself. You are able to do it at any time that suits you.

You can choose which area you want to focus on, such as barriers within education or employment, attitudes and discrimination, access to sport, housing, or accessibility. You could give a talk at a youth group, do an interactive demonstration to the public about challenges such as navigating through a shop in a wheelchair, you could put on a play with disabled people, campaign alongside disabled people in your community, do an accessibility survey, or demonstrate accessible sports.
