Do you want to hold an amazing party and help people in the process? Are you interested in social enterprise and entrepeneurialism?
Social Bite’s Wee Sleep Out is a national fundraising campaign for under 18s who want to join our movement to end homelessness in Scotland, by putting on their own sponsored Wee Sleep Out! Sleep outs can be held inside or outside, in schools, community halls or at home, and it’s completely free to take part.
You’ll need a responsible adult over 18 to register, and then it’s time to get creative! From where to hold your event, to what you’ll do on the night, what fundraising activities you’ll hold in the lead up to how you’ll promote your Wee Sleep Out – you’re in the driver’s seat!
Wee Sleep Out is a great opportunity to practise your social enterprise skills, as you create and organise your own unique fundraising event. Get your friends involved, promote your event to sponsors, and raise awareness and funds to #endhomelessness! The Wee Sleep Out team provide support and resources, including your own Event Pack, an online fundraising page and printable posters.
We hope as many young people as possible will hold their Wee Sleep Out on Saturday the 7th of December. This is the same night as the World’s Big Sleep Out, when people all over the world will sleep out to shine a light on homelessness, and raise money to help end it for good. If you can’t hold your event on this night, that’s fine! Hold it on the night that works best for you.
Whether your event is big or small, inside or outside, you’ll be raising funds to help Social Bite carry out our projects, which include housing and supporting more than 800 people and providing over 140,000 food and drink items each year! You’ll also be spreading awareness, helping to change attitudes and build momentum in the movement to end homelessness.
For Wee Sleep Out to count for your volunteering section you will need to plan out your regular volunteering for wee sleep out. and check it with your DofE leader before you start volunteering.
