New kit for Special Olympics DofE participants

The DofE’s South East Regional Office has teamed up with local charity Sasbah (The Sussex Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus) to provide its members with new sporting equipment for their young people.

Many of Sasbah’s members attend weekly training sessions at Special Olympics in Eastbourne and have been using their athletics activities as part of their DofE programmes.

The funding was awarded by a private donor and was used to replace the old equipment that has been in constant use in the centre for 10 years.

The group was able to purchase a new long jump mat and 20 speed hurdles and South East Regional Director Christian Scott visited the group to present them with it. Whilst there he was also able to meet some of the 35 young athletes who meet together every week.
