Attend the Governors’ meeting and present an update (or contribute to a report in advance) on your DofE activities and achievements for the year so far. Focus on progress made towards targets (e.g. participation numbers and completion numbers) and any positive outcomes (using quotes and photographs). This will help build continued support for the DofE and raise awareness of your work.
- By The DofEHost a DofE slot at the next parents’ evening – or integrate your progress update into your general subject feedback – to give updates on students’ progress. This is also a great opportunity to recruit parents as volunteers.
- By The DofEEnsure all participants have entered their expedition aims and goals on eDofE before their qualifying expedition. This will save a lot of chasing afterwards.
- By The DofEUse the appeal of starting the next Award level to encourage participants to complete their current DofE programme. Don’t let them progress until they have had everything in their current level signed off.
- By The DofESome of your participants may have unsupportive families and require extra motivation. Make sure they have access to IT if needed and support on using eDofE. They may also require extra help finding activities for each of their sections (suggest opportunities that are within the school to make them more accessible).
- By The DofEUpdate the school’s website with photos, quotes and Award achievements of the year so far to help attract new participants and volunteers, and to raise awareness of your work. You might also consider using social media. Take a look at our ‘Get social!’ guide, which contains top tips on how to publicise your information events, presentations and training courses and to share photos of participants and their activities to shine a light on their positive work.
