The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award kicks off the DofE Diamond Challenge in style!

Celebrity Challengers including presenter Davina McCall, helped The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) to kick off our Diamond Anniversary and the DofE Diamond Challenge at a show stopping event in Covent Garden on Tuesday 12th January 2016.

A survey carried out by the DofE at the end of 2015 showed that fewer than 1 in 5 Brits managed to challenge themselves significantly in 2015,  and  that the nation wants to be challenged more this year, with a majority of 56% wanting to learn something new in 2016.

We challenged our celebrity supporters and the general public to help us climb the equivalent height of Ben Nevis on our 24-foot climbing wall. By the end of the day, we had so much participation that we had climbed more than the combined height of both Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike (just short of the three peaks)!

The Challenge started off with a photo call from our celebrity Challengers, and first to tackle the wall was Davina McCall along with other celebrity Challengers including Radio and TV presenters, comedians and an Olympian.
