I received my Gold DofE Award from HRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace in 1971. Both Prince Philip and Her Majesty the Queen were present and he stopped to chat to me when he presented my certificate. I was the first Gold recipient in my Area. The memory has lived on since. There is no doubt in my mind that the Award gave me much confidence in life and helped me through my working life.
