James Lawrence

At school I was never a great sportsman or academic but I found my niche in DofE and worked my way through bronze, silver and gold award. I have fond memories of a small group of us meeting Prince Philip at St. James Palace in 1993.
The DofE award in part cemented my passion for the outdoors and contributed to my decision to pursue Geology as a degree and career ultimately leading me to become a lecturer in Earth Science at Imperial College London. Where I contribute to battling climate change and leading numerous field trips where I hope the students will find as much interest in the natural world as I do.

RIP Philip.
