I have a learning disability but I undertook this challenge to extend myself.

I started The Duke of Edinburgh Award in 1990 and gained the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards by 1996. At the Wellington presentation the Duke asked me what I did for service, I had to think quickly and said I had worked at a Rest Home, at Riding for the Disabled and teacher aiding.

I did all my expeditions on horse back and had an amazing time with friends exploring the beautiful Coromandel Penninsula in the North Island of New Zealand.

It is a great challenge for young people and a great way to remember the Duke of Edinburgh and his vision.
