I wanted to do DofE to gain new skills and create new experiences to look back on. It became a way to increase my self-confidence and development.

As part of it, I learnt how to bake and I volunteered for the RSPCA by walking the dogs there. I also used my swimming lessons for the sport section.

My expedition took place on the South Downs in Brighton, England. The practice expedition was a longer hike than the actual expedition. For the first one, I made the mistake of having a too heavy backpack which weighed me down. I became extremely exhausted by the end and I didn't want to do the actual expedition. However, I soon changed my mind after I had recovered and did the real one.

It felt great after I had completed the whole process and I really felt a strong bond to everyone in the group but also to others involved. I especially found it challenging due to being partially sighted, so not being able to see as well as everyone else.

Overall, I gained experience for my CV and career prospects as well as, lots of personal memories and experiences to look back on.

I have thought about taking it further than Bronze, for some point in the future but some what undecided as I would need to find people to do it with, due to being quite a few years since I did it, at 14 years old.
