Philip Styles

An overall takeaway from my dofe journey was to learn the skills and gain the experience which allowed me to lead the next generations of participants.

One big lesson I took from my gold expedition which took place on dartmoor was navigating in next to no visibility, the fog came in over our first sleep and stayed with us until the last afternoon.

I think the memory that will stay with me is one I got from doing my bronze expedition on the Isle of White. When we reached our camp, we set up our trangia's ready for cooking, we were sat on a slab of concrete which had an old shed and a single brick wall attached to it. The wall had names scratched into it, looking at the names I managed to find my surname etched into it.

I don't think it has anything to do with me but was pretty cool none the less.

I would like to say thanks to the dofe, it really is a stepping stone into life.

RIP HRH Prince Philip
