Robert Wilson

I was privileged to be presented with my Gold Award by the Duke on board the Royal Yacht in Belfast in 1977-Silver Jubilee year. It was a very special occasion and I was pleased that my dad was able to be there as my guest- he died less than 2 years later. I went on to establish the Award in Cambridge House Girls’ School, to represent the UK at the 5th International Gold Award Project in Mauritius and to serve as an Assessor for many years on the N Antrim Wild Country Expedition Panel. I was privileged to meet Prince Philip on a number of occasions both at Hillsborough Castle and St James’s Palace and am the proud dad of 2 Gold Award Holders. The Award opened up so many avenues for me and I made so many friends as a result. Prince Philip lived a life of service and devotion; so many have been positively impacted by his vision and leadership.
