Having completed my Gold Award I was at St James Palace, the room we were in was a long room. We, The Award participants stood on one side in a half crescent shape in groups of about 15, to allow the Duke of Edinburgh to stand at the focal point and be able to talk to us as a group. On the other side were the one guest, normally a parent that we had all brought with us. Within my group at the presentation were several girls from a convent school. They had come with one guest between them, probably a quite senior nun if not the Mother Superior. The Duke asked one of the girls who they had come with and they pointed to the nun. The Duke turned and asked the nun if these girls were all her children. This was a very clever question, which I am sure he would have known the double meaning of and implications and did raise a laugh by both us participants and our respective guests
