The DofE Award is an outstanding challenge, it brought me together with a group of people who I will always be proud to call my friends, through Bronze, Silver and Gold. My fondest memories are of our expeditions in the Yorkshire Dales, North Wales, Lake District and Finally The Scottish Highlands. On one occasion I cut my finger at our wild camp site which bled into my treacle Sponge pudding, I went to a friend for help and when I returned it was gone! Later that night I was told that my Jam Rolley Polly was delicious... I had some fantastic times, it led to me introducing the mountains and wild camping to all my children. I have been a DofE Volunteer and Assessor supporting cadets and teaching expedition skills for many years, one particular memory is a gold expedition to Bavaria where I was the Medic and group supervisor. I have skills and memories to last me a lifetime and for that I am truly thankful. RIP your Royal Highness Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, fair wind and safe seas your watch is over Sir.
