Oyster Worldwide – Sun Bear Conservation in Borneo – Gold Residential

Volunteer with the world’s smallest bear at a rescue centre and sanctuary in beautiful Borneo.

What’s it all about?

These sun bears have been rescued from the cruel pet or tourist trade, where they were kept in cramped enclosures for many years. Now, they have the opportunity to live in a beautiful rescue centre, in a life as close to the wild as possible. For a lucky few, there may even be the chance to be released back to the wild!

Volunteers become involved in a variety of tasks, not limited to:

– creating enrichment
– maintenance checks
– food preparation
– feeding
– cleaning enclosures

Accommodation and food

You will be living in rustic volunteer accommodation on the edge of the jungle. You should expect to share a room with one other volunteer.

There is a volunteer kitchen overlooking the jungle, where you can prepare your meals. Each week you will visit a shop to stock up on food.

You will have evenings and two days off each week. Volunteers enjoy going to the nearby orangutan rehabilitation centre and explore the rainforest through the Rainforest Discovery Centre.

There are arrivals on the 5th day of each month. Volunteers can stay for 2 – 4 weeks.

How much does it cost?

2 weeks costs £1399. 4 weeks costs £2199.

Project requirements

Volunteers must be 18+ to participate. The summer is very popular, so you are encouraged to book early to guarantee your space.
