One of my favourite experiences for my Gold DofE award was helping to lead a project, which involved painting wall murals on the outside walls of a local school. Being a creative person, the task of designing the murals and then working in a great team to paint them was exciting. The experience of helping to lead a team was out of my comfort zone, and sometimes challenging, but improved my ability to communicate my ideas and gave me a sense of achievement. It was rewarding seeing how much the school students enjoyed taking part in painting the murals and the watching them come together. Another experience I gained confidence from was the expeditions, pushing my teamwork and communication skills. I enjoyed meeting lots of different people through my Bronze to Gold awards and making new friends. My favourite expedition was in Scotland because of the amazing views whilst walking and at the areas we camped in.
