Red warning issued

The Met Office has today issued the UK’s first ever Red warning for extreme heat in parts of England on Monday and Tuesday. We know many expeditions and other outdoor DofE activities will be scheduled, and the health, wellbeing and safety of young people and all other volunteers involved with the DofE is our first priority at this time.

Ultimately, the decision on whether to go ahead with planned activity rests with individual Licensed Organisations, who deliver the DofE in line with their own risk assessments and health and safety policies.

However, we would urge all our Licensed Organisations and Approved Activity Providers to seriously consider the implications of the weather warnings issued in their area when completing their risk assessment for any activity in coming days.

If groups decide to postpone their expeditions due to the heat, we will do everything we can to make sure young people are able to complete their expeditions as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your DofE Country or Region office.
