Look after orphaned baby monkey and baboons at a rehabilitation centre in South Africa. This inspiring rehabilitation programme is open to hardworking and passionate volunteers aged 17+.
You can volunteer for 10 days – 12 weeks throughout the year.
What’s it all about?
Volunteer in rural South Africa, helping to nurture and protect orphaned and injured primates. The primates will eventually be released back to the wild, and you will play a key role in this amazing journey. Tasks include food preparation, feeding, cleaning, bathing and much more. It is very hands-on with the little babies, so expect to get plenty of monkey hugs!
Accommodation and food
Live at the heart of the monkey rehabilitation centre in lovely log cabins. You will be sharing a room with several other volunteers – and sometimes some baby monkeys! There are shared toilet and shower facilities – with an outdoor shower for the real bush experience.
Breakfast and dinner are provided daily. Breakfast often includes cereal, toast, eggs, croissants and other continental breakfast items. Dinner usually involves some sort of meat, potatoes and veg, although you can also expect rice, pasta, and other western items. Lunch is DIY – you are provided with breads and spreads, but most people choose to supplement with other items. Dietary requirements can be catered for.
How much does it cost?
2 weeks £867 and additional weeks are £240
