Oyster Worldwide – Shark conservation volunteering South Africa

You will be volunteering to help monitor and observe sharks in their natural habitat in near Cape Town. You’ll be contributing to an essential education and research mission alongside whales, great white sharks, cape fur seals, dolphins and the African penguin.

When?
You can volunteer here throughout the year for 2 – 12 weeks.

What’s it all about?
Volunteers will work on an eco-tourism and education boat everyday and will mainly be helping out on shark spotting and whale watching trips, preparing shark cages, recording data and helping with photography whilst educating visitors on marine conservation. Your work will be put into blogs and logging data for future research too.

Accommodation is very picturesque; near the boat house; there are four chalets which provide home to up to 20 volunteers at one time. There are plenty of opportunities for volunteers to socialise here – there is a lovely garden, a swimming pool, pool table and BBQ.
