Remembering Sir Tom Farmer, DofE’s former Chair of Trustees

HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh (right) stands next to Sir Tom Farmer (left) in a richly decorated room with ornate gold details, a large mirror, and antique furnishings in the background. Both men are dressed in formal suits and smiling slightly at the camera.

Everyone at the DofE is saddened to learn of the death of Sir Tom Farmer, our former Chair of Trustees. Sir Tom was a passionate champion of the DofE for decades, supporting our work through Kwik Fit in the late 1980s, joining our board as a Trustee in 1996, and becoming Chair in 2001, taking over from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Sir Tom served as Chair until 2010, and was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in 2009 for his work for the DofE.

We are deeply grateful for Sir Tom’s support, which made a lasting difference to many young people’s lives. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.
