UK Power Networks employees step up to support young people at Royal Ramble

500 colleagues from corporate partner UK Power Networks took part in the 2025 Royal Ramble – a 20-mile fundraising challenge in support of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award charity – raising an impressive £88,100 and counting, to help more young people access a life-changing DofE.

A line of people in Royal Ramble t-shirts hold hands and raise them over their heads after finishing a 20-mile walk.

Walkers set off from Potters Fields Park, winding their way through central London, passing iconic landmarks like St Paul’s Cathedral, the London Eye and Big Ben, before an iconic finish at Tower Bridge.

Taking part in teams of up to six, many walkers used UK Power Networks’ “donate-a-day” scheme, which allows employees to volunteer during paid workdays. Every participant committed to raising at least £100 in sponsorship, showing their personal dedication to making a difference.

Ruth Marvel OBE, CEO of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at UK Power Networks for taking on this incredible challenge to support the DofE charity. The money raised will help us reach more young people, especially those facing marginalisation, giving them the life-changing opportunity to build confidence, resilience, and skills for life through their DofE. Thank you for stepping up for young people.”

The funds raised from this year’s Royal Ramble could help 1,174 young people begin their DofE journey – empowering them to discover new talents, build self-belief, and give back to their communities.

UK Power Networks is a long-term partner of the DofE. Their support enables hundreds of young people each year to start their DofE. They also support the charity to deliver employability initiatives like Taster Days and Youth Without Limits LIVE events. UK Power Networks employees are also given the opportunity to achieve their own Gold DofE Award at work through DofE Business.
