We’re delighted to announce that DofE Adventure, our mass participation fundraising event, has won Silver for Best Challenge Event in the Charity Event Awards 2020.

The Charity Events Awards, which were due be announced in March but delayed due to the coronavirus, recognises innovation within the charity challenge field.

Launched in 2017, the annual DofE Adventure usually provides an unforgettable weekend of hiking and camping for walkers aged 18+ in a beautiful UK hiking hotspot to raise money for the DofE charity. In 2020, we launched the Virtual DofE Adventure, moving the experience online in response to the pandemic.

DofE Adventure is enjoyed by a range of people, including DofE Leaders, Award holders and their parents as well as corporate supporters of the DofE with many seeing the physical or virtual events as a teambuilding opportunity.

Since its launch, DofE Adventure has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to help transform the lives of young people across the UK.

Commenting on the win, our Fundraising Director Caroline Glen said: “DofE Adventure is a highlight of our events calendar which raises essential funds to support young people. We’re delighted to see it win Silver for Best Challenge Event and are grateful to each and every person that has taken part over the years. It’s a special event and one that provides an opportunity for our incredible supporters to get together and have fun whilst helping to raise funds for a great cause.”

Whilst this year’s DofE Adventure couldn’t take place in its usual format, Virtual DofE Adventure was a resounding success, raising over £36,000. We hope to bring back our award-winning event experience next year whilst also providing a virtual option for those preferring to take part closer to home.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to our supporters and sponsors, including RSM, UK Power Networks, St James’s Place and Wilson James, without who DofE Adventure wouldn’t be possible.

If you’d like to take part in 2021, you can now register your interest for virtual and physical DofE Adventure.
