Youth Without Limits LIVE: Beyond the CV is not just another careers fair, it’s a unique opportunity to enhance your DofE journey and realise there are no limits to what you can achieve in the workplace.

What to expect on the day

During the event you’ll hear what leading employers are looking for when they are hiring, be inspired by young people who are blazing a trail in their own careers, and meet with employers and youth-focussed organisations to find out about the range of career paths across different industries available to you.

You’ll also get to take part in interactive workshops exploring how to secure work experience, tips for preparing for an interview, effective communication types, how to tell your personal story and more!

Attendance at the event is free of charge. Lunch and refreshments throughout the day will be provided, as well as materials required for full participation in the event. Attendees will need to cover their own travel to and from the event.

Who can attend?

The event is fully accessible and open to current DofE participants and Award holders aged 16-19. The day has been designed with young people in mind and will provide valuable insights whether you’re still in school and just starting to think about your career options, in further education, or already starting out in the world of work.

Workshops

Amey: Are you a Lion, Dolphin, Elephant, or Parrot? Personality and Communications workshop

Performance coach Nigel Risner suggests that people can be divided into 4 groups based on their preferred communication style – Lions, Parrots, Dolphins and Elephants.

Participants will be asked to complete a short quiz so they can find out which animal they are, to discover their dominant personality and communication traits. With the new knowledge, they can start communicating more effectively. The workshop will also include a short activity to demonstrate the communication styles of each of the 4 animals/personality types.

Loud Speaker: Personal Storytelling

Research has shown that young people are feeling more and more anxious about finding opportunities in this post-COVID world. We equip young people with the self-belief needed to back themselves when setting career aspirations, and setting goals in their personal lives. We also believe the most powerful tool we all have when navigating the world is our personal story – so we give young people a framework to be able to know and understand their own stories, and the skills needed to shout it from the rooftops!
