The Island Trust – Gold Sailing Expedition Plymouth – Plymouth

Embark on nine unforgettable days at sea for your Gold Expedition where sailing sparks confidence, teamwork, and resilience, leaving you with friendships and memories to last a lifetime

Looking for an exciting and unique way to complete your Gold DofE Expedition?

Join The Island Trust for an unforgettable sailing adventure along the stunning coastlines of Devon and Cornwall. Spend 8 nights and 9 days living and sailing on board a traditional tall ship, working together as a crew to plan routes, navigate, cook meals and manage life at sea.

During the expedition you will complete your training, practice and qualifying expedition, taking increasing responsibility for sailing the vessel while supported by experienced professional instructors. You will learn valuable seamanship skills including navigation, helming, sail handling and passage planning, all while developing teamwork, resilience and leadership – key elements of the DofE expedition section.

Our voyages explore the spectacular waters of the South West, visiting hidden coves and small harbours along the way. There is also time for swimming, beach barbecues and relaxing with your crew after a rewarding day at sea.

As part of the expedition fee, participants complete an RYA Essential Navigation course before sailing and may have the opportunity to gain an RYA sailing qualification during the voyage.

If you’re looking for an adventurous alternative to a traditional walking expedition, this sailing experience is for you.
