Our five-day residential programme takes place on the stunning Sanriku coast of Japan, in Kamaishi, a coastal city that rebuilt itself after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
Learning here creates a deeper, more meaningful experience than a classroom ever could.
Each day combines hands-on workshops and outdoor sessions by the sea, building your skills and knowledge progressively throughout the week. You will learn CPR and first aid, take part in search and rescue training, try sailing, and explore ocean conservation through our Ocean Revival project. All sessions are delivered by experienced humanitarian and medical professionals alongside local experts and community members.
Alongside your training, you will hear firsthand stories from people who lived through the 2011 disaster, giving you a genuine understanding of resilience, community and global challenges.
Evenings are yours to relax and build friendships with like-minded peers from around the world.
The programme is delivered in English and Japanese, welcoming students aged 13 to 18 from anywhere in the globe.
Come prepared to be challenged, to see the world differently and to go home with skills, perspective and memories that will stay with you for life.
Cost includes activity costs, meals, accommodation and domestic travel insurance. Trip transportation to and from Kamaishi is not included.
