Pod Volunteer – Amazon Conservation in Peru – Peru

Join Pod Volunteer and live in the heart of jungle and research the ecosystem to help conserve the rainforest through sustainable community projects.

The goal of the Amazon Conservation project is to help protect the Amazon rainforest through research and community work in the Manu region. You could be involved in:
* Documenting rare blue-headed macaws by the river bank

* Capturing footage of mammals, which may include jaguars, tapirs or peccary through camera traps

* Surveying amphibians and reptiles on transect surveys, pitfall surveys, leaf litter plots and bamboo traps

* Butterfly data

* Supporting the community projects

Trips start every month and you can stay for 2-12 weeks.

You will be based at the research centre which is within one of the world’s most biodiverse hotspots, the Manu Biosphere Reserve. The research centre is based at the furthest tip of the Upper Amazon River in a remote region, which is the largest tropical rainforest biosphere reserve on earth. This project is a real immersion into remoteness and the Amazon.

Main meals and shared accommodation in an eco-lodge in the heart of the rainforest is included in the volunteer fee.

Flights are not included in the volunteer fee. Full details on the volunteer role, location, what’s included and what isn’t included can be found on the Pod project webpage in the link.
