Young Enterprise – Run your own start up – In university

Through Start Up programme you will set up and run your own business, create a product or service to sell to the public, manage company finances and enter competitions.

Start Up is the ultimate employability and entrepreneurship experience for Higher Education and Further Education students. Participants set up and run their own student company for one term or up to 12 months, develop employability skills and prepare for the world of work.

Supported by £10m Product and Public Liability insurance, you will run your own student company, with step-by-step guidance through our online platform, Company Connect, and support from a mentor.

As part of the programme, you will set up a student company business current account, and sell to the public at in-person trade fairs and through our online store, YE Trading Station. You can participate in competitions at a local, regional and national level, offering a variety of learning development opportunities.

Multiple companies can be run within one University or College, with up to 32 students per company.

Start Up is delivered in universities and the costs are covered by the provider, so it is free to participants. If you’re interested in this programme, speak to your professor about running it in your university.
