Prepare for your Gold DofE qualifying expedition with Summit Explorers on a three-day, two-night practice journey through the southern Peak District. Starting near Ashbourne and finishing near Matlock Bath, participants will experience countryside while developing the skills required for their Gold expedition.

Participants will travel in small teams, navigate independently, camp for two nights and work together to complete their expedition aim. The journey provides an opportunity to strengthen navigation, campcraft, teamwork, route management and decision-making skills before undertaking a four-day qualifying expedition.

Our experienced leaders provide safety supervision and support while giving each team the independence required by the DofE expedition framework. Feedback will help participants recognise their strengths and identify areas to improve before their qualifier.

This open practice expedition is ideal for individual participants, friends attending together, or young people who cannot complete their practice through their school or usual DofE centre. Individual bookings will be matched with a team.

The £150 fee includes campsite fees, group equipment, remote tracking and supervision. Personal expedition equipment can be hired for an additional charge. Identical expeditions are available during the Easter and May half-term school holidays, providing two opportunities to complete this stage of the Gold Award.
