Oyster Worldwide – Residential – Elephant volunteering in Thailand

You will work closely with rescued elephants in this inspiring elephant sanctuary in Thailand to actively help improve their lives and give them a safe haven in the sanctuary. Often these gentle giants have been liberated from tourism and money making schemes so you will kindly nurture them through feeding, caring for and bathing, as well as the day to day running of the sanctuary.

When?
You can volunteer here throughout the year for 1 – 12 weeks.

What’s it all about?
Since elephants eat 5% of their bodyweight a day, harvesting grasses and feeding the elephants is a major job. It is important because it may be the first time these elephants have eaten foods that are wholly natural and healthy. You will observe the elephants as they freely roam, learning their characteristics and personalities as well as maintaining the sanctuary and bathing sites.

Accommodation is within the sanctuary grounds in the heart of a small community, sharing with two or three other volunteers. 3 meals a day are provided using traditional Thai cooking styles.

Course location:
Thailand
Course fee:
