Whether you’re a teacher, a youth club leader, sports instructor or youth worker, you know the difference it makes when a young person believes in themselves. That’s what DofE is all about.

Young people aged 14–24 can take part at three levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold. It’s not about competing or being first, it’s about personal growth and achievement.

Each level involves completing different sections:

  • Bronze & Silver: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and an Expedition
  • Gold: All of the above, plus a Residential experience.

Through their personalised DofE programmes, young people have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem and grow in confidence. They develop essential emotional and social skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and confidence.

Activities and volunteering opportunities done through DofE enhance CVs and university or job applications. DofE gives a young person talking points to expand upon in interviews; and top employers recognise and value the work-ready skills Award holders bring to a business.

Thank you for helping young people thrive through their DofE journey.
