How to: achieve your DofE Award when you’ve left your centre

If you’ve recently left your DofE centre, whether that’s your school, college, Scout group or elsewhere, fear not – it doesn’t mean the end for your DofE.  

There are lots of ways in which you can continue your programme and achieve your Award.  

Here are a few things to check: 

If you have multiple sections left to complete… 

– …and are moving to a new school, college or university, find out if they run the DofE. You can then ask your new DofE Leader to transfer your account to your new centre so you can finish your programme. 

– …and you’ve finished college or university, or have moved somewhere where the DofE isn’t currently offered, you could contact your local Country Office to find out if there are any open groups near you. 

– …and you want to achieve your Gold Award, you can transfer your account to DofE Direct. 

– …and you would like to complete your programme with your previous centre, ask your DofE Leader if they’d be happy to receive any outstanding evidence and Assessor’s Reports via email so that they can sign off those final sections. 

If you only have the Expedition section left to complete… 

– …and are moving to a new school, college or university, find out if they run the DofE. You can then ask your new DofE Leader to transfer your account to your new centre so you can do your expedition with them. 

– …and you have finished college or university, or have moved somewhere where the DofE isn’t currently offered, you can join an open expedition. Have a look at our Opportunity Finder to browse a range of dates, locations and modes of travel. 

If you only have the Residential section left to complete… 

– …and are moving to a new school, college or university, find out if they run the DofE. You can then ask your new DofE Leader to transfer your account so that they can approve your residential. Alternatively, you can transfer your account to DofE Direct for online support. 

– …and you would like to complete your programme with your previous centre, ask your DofE Leader if they’d be happy to receive your Residential section evidence and Assessor’s Report so that they can sign off the final section.
