7 ways to support DofE in our 70th year
This year we’re celebrating 70 years of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Since 1956 we’ve helped millions of young people build confidence and develop their skills to prove to themselves what they’re capable of.
Whether you’ve done DofE, supported young people through volunteering or just believe in what we do, we can’t do it without you.
Read more about how you can support us in our 70th year.
1. Share your story
Our story isn’t complete without yours.
Share your favourite DofE memory in our digital scrapbook. It could be the moment you finally reached the top of a hill on your expedition, the people you met through your volunteering section, or just the confidence you’ve gained throughout your DofE journey. By sharing your memories you’re helping us to tell DofE’s story across the decades.

2. Make a donation
We help young people build their self-belief and life skills – and as a charity for all young people we rely on public support to do this. Your donations help us provide funding, resources and support where it’s needed most, so that more young people can access DofE.
Every donation helps a young person reach their full potential. It could help them start their DofE journey or could provide essential equipment for an expedition.

3. Take part in a fundraising event
Fundraising for the DofE charity is a great way to make a difference and get involved. Whether you’re abseiling down the Forth Bridge or dusting off your cricket bat for our cricket day; there are lots of Challenge and Special events to choose from.
Whichever event you choose to be a part of helps us to raise vital funds while bringing people together and celebrating 70 years of DofE.

4. Pre-order a Youth Without Limits rose
Celebrate 70 years with something that makes a lasting impact. Our Youth Without Limits rose was designed by DofE Youth Ambassadors; Alexandra and Lucy, and alumna, Gillian, who felt the vibrant colours were symbolic of the resilience of DofE programmes.
£5 from every rose sold goes back to the DofE charity, so it’s a lasting way to show your support and be part of this milestone year.

5. Buy a bucket hat
Festival season is here and a bucket hat is a limited edition bucket hat celebrates our 70th anniversary in style, while being practical. Wear it on your expedition, holiday or at your favourite festival while showing your love for DofE.
Even better, at least £5 from every hat sale goes back to the DofE charity, helping us to support more young people to take part in a life-changing DofE Award.

6. Visit the DofE Archive
Ever wondered what the DofE was like 70 years ago? Our online archive displays stories, photos and videos from across the decades. See how the charity has grown through the decades while staying relevant to young people.
Exploring our archive is an opportunity to reflect on the impact of DofE and celebrate the achievements of generations of young people over the years.

7. Shop the NEXT hoodie and socks
We’ve partnered with leading fashion retailer, NEXT, to design a limited edition 70th anniversary hoodie and socks.
Co-designed by young people doing their DofE through DofE Workplace at NEXT, the hoodie and socks reflects young people’s journeys and features a style that matters the most to them. With every hoodie and socks sale, 100% of the profits go back to the DofE charity, helping more young people start their transformative DofE journey.

However you choose to get involved, you’re helping us to champion every young person to build their confidence and skills to handle anything life throws at them.
With your continued support, we can ensure the DofE continues to change lives for the next 70 years.
