Royal Mail

Royal Mail have been a proud supporter of the DofE since 2012 and offer their young employees the opportunity to do their Gold DofE.

Ever since King Henry VIII ordered the creation of the first national post service, back in 1516, Royal Mail has been collecting and delivering letters and parcels all around the UK.

Last year, it collected and delivered more than one billion parcels and 14 billion addressed letters across the country. So, it’s come a long way in 500 years.

Royal Mail really believes in the skills you’ve gained through doing your DofE. It knows that DofE participants and Award holders are some of the UK’s brightest, most confident young people. Royal Mail believes in it so much that it even offers its apprentices the chance to do their Gold DofE Award too.

“At 16, I joined Royal Mail as an apprentice and did my DofE – I’m a proud Silver Award holder. In fact, I still have my certificate commemorating the achievement! The expedition was the toughest part because I had to canoe for several days with just a small kit bag, food and a tent for comfort. Although fatigued, by the end it taught me lots about resilience, coping under pressure and working with others to achieve a common goal – which are all attributes that have helped me in my work and life.”
