Did you boil a kettle to make a coffee this morning? Or charge your iPhone? Or turn on the lights while you brushed your teeth? Have you jumped on the Tube recently or jetted off from one of the major airports in the South East? All of these events could not have occurred without UK Power Networks.
UK Power Networks distributes more than a quarter of the UK’s electricity through its networks of substations, underground cables and overhead lines making sure the lights stay on across London, the South East and the East of England, regardless of who customers pay their energy bills to. A range of other companies deliver power to the rest of the country.
“The DofE has a strong track-record of developing well-rounded, caring young people, which are attributes we look for in our employees to deliver top customer service. We have joined forces with them to give our young apprentices the best start to their career.”
– Basil Scarsella, CEO of UK Power Networks
“Doing my DofE allowed me to practically apply what I had learnt in theory. As a result, the skills became embedded in me and I still use them today. Now I work in a team. The DofE showed me having patience and trust in my teammates allows us to communicate and work together effectively. Achieving our goals together.”
