The Welcome Pack has everything participants need to get started on their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

It contains:

  • Information for participants
  • Assessors’ cards
  • A leaflet for parents and carers
  • Information on discounts and offers

The pack is different for each level with relevant programme information. Participants get a new Welcome Pack when they progress to the next level of the Award.

Receiving the Welcome Pack

We send packs directly to participants’ homes when they register their address on eDofE. For participants with an overseas home address, we send packs to their DofE centre, addressed to the participant.

Participants will receive their Welcome Pack within 21 days of registering their address on eDofE.

Leaders need to distribute Welcome Packs to participants who are doing their DofE in the secure estate.

If a participant has not received their pack after 21 days, their Leader should contact us.

Welcome Packs sent to DofE centres

A personal Welcome Pack can be sent to the participant’s DofE centre even if they’ve submitted their home address for two reasons:

  • The Welcome Pack has been returned to us as undeliverable
  • Our automated system cannot find a match for the postcode the participant entered into eDofE

The participant’s Leader can then pass the pack on to them.

Sending Welcome Packs to DofE centres makes sure they reach participants and prevents them from going missing or being returned to the DofE.

Welcome Packs being sent to the participant’s DofE Centre can happen because:

  • The participant entered an incorrect postcode, for example using O instead of 0
  • The post code belongs to a newbuild property that is not yet on the Royal Mail database
  • The post code is in the Royal Mail database, but has not yet made it into our database
