Our commitment to EDI is fundamental to all we do. We know that to meet the needs and aspirations of the most diverse group of young people ever, we need to ensure that individuals feel respected, included, able to achieve their potential and be equipped to role model inclusivity.

What we mean by equity, diversity and inclusion

  • Equity recognises that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome, whereas Equality means giving people access to equal resources and opportunities
  • Diversity refers to the variety of differences among people such as race, gender, age, socio economic backgrounds, experiences etc.
  • An inclusive workplace culture allows all people to thrive, regardless of their background, identity or circumstance and ensures all people feel a true sense of belonging.
  • Inclusion relates to how people are managed; the overall experience people have working at DofE and how the charity’s values are brought to life.
